Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea) is a coniferous evergreen tree native to North America. It typically grows to be 50-70 ft tall, with a narrow cone-shaped crown and a straight trunk. The needles are about 1 inch long, and are typically dark green with two white stripes along the underside. The needles are attached directly to the branches and have a pleasant, balsam-scented aroma when crushed. The cones are upright, cylindrical, and about 3-5 inches long. Balsam Fir is commonly used as a Christmas tree, and its resin is used in making balms and other fragrant products.
