ABOUT
NEEDLEFAST EVERGREENS
Jim and Ben Nickelson strive to grow quality Christmas trees. Transplants are planted on 5.5 by 6 foot spacing which allows the trees adequate room to grow a nice, natural, symmetrical shape and develop full sides. Some of our fields are under irrigation, protecting the trees from loss to heat stress, to ensure adequate fertilizer uptake and to maximize needle retention. Trees are pruned midsummer to provide for adequate bud development for the following year. Fraser fir is now our primary species. We also grow Balsam fir, Canaan fir, Concolor fir, Douglas fir, Korean fir, Black Hills spruce, Blue spruce and Scotch pine.

CHRISTMAS TREES FOR 2023
A Collection of conifers
Conifers are known for their ability to retain their leaves year-round and they produce seeds in cones instead of flowers. They include species such as pine, spruce & fir. Most conifers are evergreen, and make perfect Christmas Trees!
FEATURED FOR SPRING 2023
A Collection of DECIDUOUS
These trees are typically found in regions with distinct seasons, where there is a significant difference in temperature between summer and winter. Deciduous trees are adapted to this by shedding their leaves in the fall. Some examples include oak, maple, birch, and ash.

ZONE MAP
Plant hardiness zones are geographic regions defined by the minimum temperatures that a particular type of plant can withstand without damage. The zones are typically represented on a map, and are determined based on long-term climate data, including average minimum temperatures. The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is the most commonly used and widely recognized system in the United States. It divides the country into 11 zones, with Zone 1 being the coldest (average minimum temperature of -50°F to -40°F) and Zone 11 being the warmest (average minimum temperature of above 40°F).Â
